Entertaining. It ain't exactly high art, but as far as shonen-action anime goes this is top of the line. Despite having many stock characters (the bubbley, effervescent love interest, the gung-ho protagonist, the wise old lady), it maintains a compelling storyline and unique characters. The standard animation is fluid and realistic, and the 3D space sequences are great.
