Its extremely graphic violence at times is a plus. However, it suffers from a weak and unclear story, absolutely terrible character designs, and is lacking in the audio department as well.

Old Epic movie from the 80's. Very good movie for it's time, a classic in my personal opinion. Read the manga for a better explanation of the Akira Universe. ^_^

Extremely hard to follow, but an important film from the 80s and very entertaining. Akira is a good movie for any anime fan to see, if just for its influence throughout the form.

A classic. Fantastic production values for its time. One of the few anime I'd recommend to non-otaku.

the animation in the movie is just stunning too

Classic, yes. Crazy cool animation at times, too. But not very coherent and extremely violent.
