Lain is just one of those animes you have to see to grasp. The artwork and animation is good, but to understand the story you must watch it. A few times, even. Its plot weaves and twists through philosophy, computer science, and adolescent insecurity. Must-see.

This is an anime that will cause you to philosophize. It was a very confusing anime the first time I watched. You have to either discuss it with someone or watch it a few times to completely understand it.

Lain is a difficult show to watch. It's confusing, cryptic, and it delves into a strange mixture of philosophy and science fiction. If you want to give the series a try, I say go for it, but don't be surprised if the whole thing leaves a bad taste in your mouth. I know it did for me.

i dunno. everything is great.
the artwork, the characters aren't bad, there's a real development in the personalities of the characters, but it somehow doesn't add up.
i mean, it's all there but it's too hard to watch!
maybe it's cause i watched it as a late night show and my brain didn't function, but it goes through so many topics and ideas that it's hard to follow and make the connections between everything.
i think i'll watch it again in the far future and try to make sense, but till then, it stays avarage
